Oh, don't worry. the hubs and I are just idiots. that's it. plain and simple.

Okay, so here's the story for you.  Thank goodness for great friends that are willing to get your mail when you go out of town for a few short days. BUT what you don't expect to get is a text message that says, "Mail in the house.  BTW, blew out the candle on the mantle."  Oh, don't worry.  That text came um, 48 hours AFTER we had left.  Thank goodness for good friends and coming home to a house that is not burned down.  IDIOTS.  PERIOD.
