The unidentifiable vegetable
"What is that? That's an artichoke?!?"-me
Oh yes, I tried my first real artichoke this month!! Now wait, I've eaten artichokes before--in salads, hidden in various foods, that sort of thing but NEVER actually seen one and ate one directly from the vegetable itself. Thanks to my wonderful family in Atlanta, I had the pleasure of being introduced to them. Verdict=not that bad, actually kind of good. However, I am still wondering why these large vegetables were created to only get a little bit of meat out of them? I guess that's what the good foods do--Lobster, Crab, you know-lot of work, not a lot of meat. But now I can say, I have had 2--yup, 2 whole artichokes this month. Hubby made them for dinner tonight with my favorite meal(fettucine alfredo, garlic bread, and of course, delicious wine--check out Francis Coppola, Alicante Bouschet--pink bottle:-) I go for the looks of the bottle.) Okay, back to artichokes--I like--with melted butter as the choice of dip.
